St. Francis CSI Church

St. Francis CSI Church holds great historical significance as the oldest European Church in India. The church was built in 1503 by Portuguese and it also gets prominence as the original burial place of Vasco Da Gama, the European Explorer. While on his third visit, Vasco Da Gama fell ill and died in Kochi in 1524. He was buried here for 14 years before his remains were taken to Lisbon.
